Wishing the happiest of birthdays to fashion icon Andre Leon Talley! May you have the most glorious of birthdays and many, many more years of elegance to come. If you haven’t read ALT’s memoir, I highly recommend it and any of the books he’s curated in connections with exhibits he put together at SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design) with the “Little Black Dress” book being my favorite.
Picture it: an episode of “Empire” where the Lyon Family goes on luxe Mediterranean vacay. Someplace like Capri which inspired this Spr 16 collection by Trina Turk. And Cookie Lyon is standing on the deck of the family yacht in one of these looks!
Also adore these men’s wear looks from Trina Turk. My favorite of the three is the delicious look I am calling a “momper” (as in man romper, lol) on the far left. And the print on both the jacket in the center and the entire suit on the far right are fabulous. I’m not generally a print guy in my personal style, but I’m inspired to take it on for Spring 2016.
Chile’ Rafael Nadal is serving on more than the tennis court. Can somebody say body-ody-ody? *fans self* I’ll take two pair, please. Tommy Hilfiger got it right. Now can we have one with one of my celebrity husbands who is also an athlete, the oh so fine Michael Strahan?
Pharrell Williams is slaying in this new campaign for Chanel. I am obsessed these boots, and I love the whole look!
Happy Birthday to legendary rapper and actor QTip of “A Tribe Called Quest” ! I was just looking through a ton of photos of him and wanted to remind all that this dude has serious style. A total Glamourtunist! And he’s hot too, so there’s that.
Fashioning my own and my sweeties closet’s today. Custom men’s shirts and tunics. Fabric selection duty at Zag West in Indianapolis. Decisions, decisions.
Visited Indianapolis and stopped in Righno where I saw this dope t-shirt that found a witty use for celebrity mugshots. Jane Fonda (who looked a lot like Katy Perry back in the day), Robert Downey Jr., Christian Slater and Snoop Dogg. Really great pieces there. If you are ever in Indianapolis stop in. The store sells mostly men’s wear but has some gender neutral pieces as well, like this tee shirt. It’s east of Mass Ave, a growing, trendy area with lots of local businesses including boutiques.
Public School gave a jolt of super chic to menswear at this year’s NYFW. These are three of my favorite looks from their Fall 2015 show, and while I also enjoyed much of there womenswear too, I thought the men’s looks were especially fashion flawless. I am in love with the charcoal grey trench on the far left, and would love to have the grey vest in my closet too this Fall. The look in the middle best represents what I love about this design house, which is their coolness, street sensibilities, and the fashion flexibility of their looks. This design duo is killing the game right now!
Wearing one of my favorite pieces of jewelry today. A mixed metal necklace with flat stones. The stones all look like rose quartz and moonstones. I’m going to pair it with my Balenciaga “work” bag (which one of my friends calls my “WERQ!” bag — I love that!) and then off to class I go. Whenever I wear it I pull it out of the closet and shout as did the effortlessly elegant Myrtle Snow in “American Horror Story: Coven,” “BALENCIAGAAAAA!” It cracks me up every time.
Men are Glamourtunists exhibit B: Mr. Kanye West, wearing the iconic Chanel tweed jacket as part of a fabulous shoot celebrating the versatile elegance of the piece. Alexander Wang and others posed for the shoot rockin’ the fashion staple. I love to see Kanye smile!
